Marie Ourganjian

Author Biography

At 5 years of age, Marie Ourganjian, responded to the request "What would you like for Christmas, Marie?" with a startling answer, "A typawriter!" At five typos are excusable, expected, anticipated and remembered for the joy they bring. But when December rolled around Marie cried, she had a typewriter, but it was plastic and not a real one like her mother's. Marie wanted a typewriter because she had been making up stories ever since she can remember for her mother and others, looking at picture books and using a vivid and fertile imagination to create pictures with words.

"Great writing helps you to see, smell, taste and touch in your mind and every piece of good literature you read changes you, helping you to grow and change for the better, enabling critical thinking, which in this era of mindless entertainment is important for all."

The desire to write, fueled by writers of the caliber of William Saroyan, John Steinbeck, Katherine Anne Porter, Flannery O'Connor and others lead to early poetry, and then taking on a university degree, where Marie obtained a BA in Communication. Marie is currently working on short stories, novels and a screenplay.
