Author Biography
Gordon Jackman is one of those polymath people whose love of civilization and culture commits him to the big projects that few ever have the opportunity or inclination to take on. As an archaeologist he is intimately involved with civilization, culture and its artifacts. As an activist with Greenpeace, and in the Disability movement, and as a songwriter, painter and writer he is aware of the impact and potential of the arts to affect not only the course of civilizations but also to leave us in a state of wonder at how people lived their lives.
“Art is the communication of an essence from person to person that allows the freedom of the viewer to interpret the message, however they want. It’s therefore a higher form of communication that allows freedom in communication between human beings in that it inspires meaning rather than imposes meaning.”
He's experienced in campaigns for the environment and social issues that help to achieve balance in the world and he comes to the Free Articulator as a contributor who recognizes the ability of the arts to have that positive and constructive impact.
"We can go to the moon, but we haven't got out of our nappies as a civilization."
