The Flockblogger - How do you become one?
November 23, 2007

It’s simple, you go here, download and install it. You don’t look back.
I’ve been Flockblogging for nearly a month now, thanks to my good friend, Joel Falconer. I don’t yet know all the ins & outs of this most useful of all browsers which is a definite upgrade from Firefox, and suits me as I become a fan and proponent of Really Simple Syndication (RSS). It’s how I do all my news and updates now. Email? Becoming increasingly unimportant, but still useful in a pinch.
Flock, in case you haven’t looked, is a browser based on Mozilla Firefox. But it goes a step further, it’s a social networking browser with a suite of useful tools for those who blog. If you’re planning on contributing regularly to the Free Articulator, or running your own blog, then you’re going to love how easy this makes it.
Thanks to Flock all my email news comes to me through Flock’s integrated Feed Service, which makes it a cinch to sign up for any site that provides RSS feed subscription. It provides a range of presentation formats and I’m informed at a glance the moment anything comes in that I want to be paying attention to, and when you’re an infomaniac like me, being able to access information and process it quickly makes life very easy and more productive, especially when seconds shaved off processing that information makes things so easy.
I can save articles I want to come back to later with a simple click and I can make clippings of text, images and other items that are going to be useful. It integrates very nicely with an online photo storage system called Photobucket, and also has some efficient systems for working with YouTube.
Publishing to a blog is also made easy. With a click I can open a template, write the article and publish it. Unfortunately it does not yet permit me to specify exactly where I want a draft to go to, and given that we have an editing process in place, that would be a real bonus.
As I begin to discover more about how to work with this prince of browsers, I’ll let you know. But my recommendation is: Become a Flockblogger; download, install, don’t look back.
